Abu Dhabi: Fernando Baiano was once again the hero as defending champions Al Wahda chalked out a 2-0 win over Al Nasr and moved into joint second place in the UAE Pro-League.

Playing at the Al Nahyan Stadium, Al Wahda dominated and looked as much as defending champions as they outclassed the Dubai club.

Baiano, who should have easily completed a hat-trick but for some wayward shooting, struck first in the 33rd minute. Esmail Matar flicked one to beat the rival defence and Baiano managed to slip it past the Al Nasr keeper.

Baiano put the issue beyond doubt when in the 57th minute he headed home a delicate chip by fellow Brazilian Hugo Henrique.

Baiano, despite being put through brilliantly by Esmail Matar twice, messed up and missed an opportunity to complete another hat-trick for the Abu Dhabi club.

It was Al Wahda's third win in six matches and they now have 11 points, the same as Al Ahli, winners earlier in the evening and Al Jazira who have a match in hand.

Al Nasr remain in 10th place, this being their fourth defeat.
