Without functional electronic information boards, motorists are not up to date about traffic snarls. Gulf News reader Mathew Litty said they were imperative for planning one's journey. Image Credit: Mathew Litty, Gulf News reader

Dubai is an amazing city to live in and I am amazed to see the growing infrastructure over the past few years.

However, during peak rush hour, the traffic is getting worse. A few weeks ago, when I was travelling on the Kuwait Road heading down to Al Shindagha Tunnel, I was shocked to see traffic snarls. The road was completely blocked and there was chaos.

As I was stuck in the long queue, I wondered why the traffic information board did not display any message or warning. Some of us are eager to know what is happening ahead so that we can plan our journey accordingly by taking alternative routes.

On this particular road, there was no indication of what had happened as the board was non-functional.

I urge the relevant authorities to ensure that such information boards are on and functional at all times so that motorists are well aware of what is going on.
