Ras Al Khaimah: Police patrols have seized hundreds of motorcycles over the weekend in an inspection campaign which covered several areas of the emirate.

The Inclusive Police Patrols seized 360 motorcycles in a two-day weekend inspection campaign under instructions from Major General Shaikh Taleb Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chief of RAK Police.

Lt Col Ahmad Al Bogham, who heads the Police Inclusive Patrols said the police are currently exerting all efforts to police the streets. He added that the seized vehicles have been found in direct violation of the traffic rules and regulations and posed dangers to drivers and road users.

He explained that some of the seized motorcycles had no plate numbers and their drivers failed to present the registration documents of their vehicles, while others were seized as their drivers did not hold driving licences.

Lt Col Al Bogham said that the Police Inclusive Patrols will continue their inspection campaigns until there is total adherence to traffic laws.

In many cases, children on small motorcycles stunt drive and race and disturb residents at night.
