Newmarket, England: Fame And Glory was uneasy in the betting market for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last night and even lost his position as favourite for the race with one major firm, but his trainer, Aidan O'Brien, denied the colt had suffered any kind of setback.

The four-year-old missed the Irish Champion Stakes on Saturday, connections having indicated that he would instead be given an easier task in this Sunday's Prix Foy at Longchamp.

But O'Brien ruled him out of that race earlier this week and said Fame And Glory would go straight to the Arc.

After an apparent lack of market interest, the horse was edged out to 5-1 from 4-1 yesterday by Coral, who now have Behkabad as their 9-2 favourite. Other firms also lengthened their odds about Fame And Glory, who briefly traded at around 10-1 on Betfair, though Ladbrokes stand firm on 3-1.

Denial

O'Brien would offer little details about the horse when contacted last night but denied a setback and said: "He's good."

Asked if he was confident the horse would line up in the Arc, he replied: "With horses, you always have to take it a day at a time."

Behkabad is one of 10 who remain entered for Sunday's Prix Niel, the three-year-old Arc trial, while Midday, Sariska and Sarafina are among the 15 in the Prix Vermeille.

Byword, winner of the Prince of Wales's Stakes, heads 11 entrants for the Foy.
