Dubai: Dubai Municipality has signed an agreement with 'Tasjeel' (vehicle testing centres) for certifying food transport vehicles that meet the hygiene requirements, as 'Tasjeel' has its own specialists in testing food transport vehicles.

The Municipality has issued a hygiene requirements guide for food transport vehicles in May 2007 and since then it has approved more than 6,000 vehicles that distribute food in Dubai in accordance with the hygiene requirements of Dubai Municipality.

Transport vehicles are classified into several categories, according to the types of foodstuff that are transferred such as dry, refrigerated, frozen or hot food, with the allocation of different colours of stickers depending on the type of food to be transported, for example, refrigerated vehicles will have a green sticker, hot will have red, yellow for dry and orange for frozen food and so on.

The inspectors in the Food Control Department will follow-up those vehicles and types of food they transport.
