Dubai: iFly Dubai, the region's first public indoor skydiving centre, was opened yesterday at Mirdif City Centre.

iFly Dubai is part of the newly-opened mall's Playnation, a dedicated leisure and entertainment destination that uses innovative wind tunnel technology that allows participants to experience the thrill of free falling without jumping from an aeroplane.

The facility uses transparent acrylic tubes powered by two gigantic 400 horsepower fans to allow users to ride a current of air. Winds in the tunnel could reach up to 200km/h.

Ahmad Esmail, CEO, Majid Al Futtaim Ventures, said: "iFly Dubai is unlike anything ever experienced by the UAE public before. This exhilarating and unique attraction from Majid Al Futtaim Leisure is a safe and exciting way to feel human flight and allows all the family to have a go at sky diving without any prior experience.

"With highly-trained instructors on hand to teach participants everything they need to know for the thrill of a lifetime, we are confident that this fantastic leisure attraction will become a much talked about highlight of not just the emirates, but of the region as well. Surpassing expectations and continually raising the bar within mall-based leisure facilities is a key objective for Majid Al Futtaim Leisure and we are delighted to be welcoming customers to iFly Dubai."

The facility is safe for kids, challenging for adults, exciting for teens and realistic for skydivers.
