Abu Dhabi: Residents are invited to attend the first H1N1 public forum that will highlight preventive measures and crisis management steps in the event of a major outbreak.

The event, organised by the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA), will take place tomorrow at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) at 10am. Arrangements have been made to accommodate thousands of residents from across the emirates.

The NCEMA is the UAE's newly created federal body that has been set up to oversee a coordinated national approach to crisis and emergency management; with the Crisis and Emergency Management Conference (CEMC) prioritising H1N1 control measures.

"Recurring threats like the H1N1 influenza prove that public conduct, as much as quick and coordinated measures, determines the success of crisis response. The NCEMA helps provide a platform for educationists and decision makers in the UAE to learn from international experts and professionals, on the latest concerns, tools, and practices in crisis prevention and management," said Mohammad Khalfan Al Rumaithi, general manager of NCEMA.
