Dubai: The UAE has lifted a ban on import of live, domesticated, wild and ornamental birds and products from north and south Americas and Europe.

A ministerial resolution issued on Tuesday by Dr Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahd,
Minister of Environment and Water, said imports of these birds will be allowed from these continents except from areas reporting cases of avian flu.

The ministerial resolution stipulated that all inbound shipments will be subjected to working vet quarantine regulations and laws.

The resolution on lifting the ban was motivated by reports received from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and a memorandum by the UAE National Committee for Avian Influenza Emergency Response.
