Dubai: Three human traffickers have been jailed five years after a court convicted them of sexually exploiting a woman who fell to her death while escaping from a brothel.

The Dubai Court of First Instance imprisoned the three accused, a 40-year-old Indian visitor and two Bangladeshi unemployed men, after they were found guilty of human trafficking and exploiting the unidentified woman and forcing her into the sex trade.

Announcing yesterday's verdict, Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad said the trio, 40-year-old A.K. and the Bangladeshis, 26-year-old M.S. and 25-year-old S.S., will deported after serving their punishment.

Records said an Indian building watchman heard a loud bang before he rushed out and saw blood gushing from the body of the unidentified woman.

A.K. earlier admitted in court that he ran a brothel in the flat where he made the woman to work as a prostitute. He defended that the girl jumped on her own while trying to run from the flat and he was not responsible for her death. The Public Prosecution charged the trio with violating Federal Law No 51 of 2006 concerning human trafficking.

A.K. was charged with exploiting the woman's poverty, locking her up in the flat and forcing her to have sex with men for money.

The Public Prosecution additionally charged A.K. with running a brothel in the flat in Al Muraqqabat.

M.S. and S.S. were charged with aiding and abetting A.K. to violate the human trafficking law when they brought the woman to the flat knowing that she will be sexually abused. They pleaded innocent.

"I was cleaning the entrance of the building when I heard the sound of something hitting the floor and I rushed outside and saw her lying in a pool of blood. She was lying on her belly, motionless," testified the watchman.

The primary judgment is still subject to appeal within 15 days.
