Dubai: Crowd favourites The Moody Cows are to return to the Dubai Emirates Rugby Sevens 2009 tournament in search of a winner's trophy to honour the memory of close friend Kay Booker and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Kay, 39, who lost her battle against cancer in July of this year, was one of the founding members of The Moody Cows and managed the 2004 team in Dubai where the women were pipped at the post by a fully capped team of international players.

The Moody Cows are an international invitational women's sevens team, comprising players from a number of high profile clubs including Rosslyn Park, Saracens and Richmond.

Determination

"This tournament is really important to the team for two reasons; it helps promote women's rugby on an international stage and it marks our wholehearted determination to raise money in memory of our very dear friend and team member Kay Booker," Moody Cows Captain, Lou Micklewright said.

Not only are The Moody Cows renowned at tournaments for their success on the field, they are also well known for their very unique brand. This year, dedicated to raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, the team and their herd of supporters will don Friesian print tournament shirts.

"Macmillan Cancer Support played a role in supporting Kay during her illness. With one in three people now being diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives; many more individuals are turning to the charity for support. It is a fitting tribute to Kay that so many of her friends and family are actively using her passion for rugby to raise donations for a charity close to her heart," Mark Pamplin, Kay's widower and an avid Moody Cow supporter added.
