Mohamed Al Ghanim, TRA Director General, inaugurated the Middle East Communications Conference and Exhibition 2009 (MECOM2009). Al Ghanim also delivered the Inaugural Opening Speech at the Telecoms Leaders Conference 2009, which took place today at Abu Dhabi Exhibition Center (ADNEC).
Al Ghanim said that in less than two years after introducing competition, the UAE has achieved more profits, higher telecoms penetration rates, the introduction of new telecoms services and numerous marketing offers. These results, particularly in the backdrop of the global economic crisis, reflect a healthy sector supported by dynamic operators, satisfied consumers and a solid regulator, he added.
Al Ghanim emphasized that “telecommunications services have ceased to be additional goods and have become basic needs to survive in this global village.
