Sharjah: The UAE cricket team will commence their preparation to qualify for the 2011 World Cup from Monday.

"We have named 43 probables to be selected for this qualifier and emphasis is being given on physical fitness," said Mazhar Khan, the administrator of Emirates Cricket Board.

"The training and physical fitness camp will be held every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6.30pm."

The qualifying matches are scheduled to be held around the Gauteng region of South Africa from April 1.

"The three-month fitness camp will be held under the floodlights at the Sharjah Club and the fitness training will be held under the physiotherapist CS Sudhaker. We will soon be announcing our new coach too," said Khan.

The UAE will play in Group B, which comprises Kenya, The Netherlands, Bermuda, Denmark and a qualifier from the winner of the World Cricket League Division 3.

Group A is made up of Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Oman, Namibia and qualifier 2, who will be the runner-up from the World Cricket League.

The final will be held on April 18

"Top four nations from this event will qualify for the 2011 World Cup. So we are hoping to go to South Africa with the best preparation and we have selected the best performers from different clubs and organisations that participated in our domestic tournaments," Khan said.

Among the probables are eight players from Fly Emirates and seven from ECB team. There are also many players from Consolidated Shipping Services, New Medical Centre. and Emirates Islamic Bank.

Three players have been selected from the UAE Nationals cricket team too.
