Trainers and jockeys based in the Emirates will set the standard for their counterparts in Melbourne to try and emulate later when the Emirates Challenge takes place at Nad Al Sheba tonight.

The Emirates Challenge is part of the exciting new concept, 'One Event Two Race meetings', the joint alliance between the Melbourne Racing Club and Dubai Racing Club. It is sponsored by Emirates airline, the official airline of the Dubai Racing Club and Melbourne Racing Club joint venture.

The trainer and jockey who finish with the most number of points after next Saturday night's Melbourne Racing Club UAE Oaks meeting will have set the mark for their counterparts in Melbourne to try and surpass.

Emirates airline has added an exciting dimension to the meetings through sponsorship of the Emirates Challenge - a competition which will crown a champion jockey and trainer at the conclusion of both meetings.

The following points system will operate across both meetings to determine the most successful jockey and trainer.

1st =15 points; 2nd = 8 points, 3rd = 4 points; 4th = 2 points and 5th - last = 1 point.

As a reward for their achievements, the winners will receive Business Class airline tickets to Melbourne if the winner(s) are from Dubai and to Dubai if the winner(s) are from Melbourne.

'The Emirates Challenge is an exciting concept which will add further to the already exciting joint venture between the Melbourne racing Club and the Dubai Racing Club," said Ali Khakis Al Jafleh, Chairman of the Dubai Racing Club.

"It is a unique competition where trainers and jockeys not only compete against each other in their own racing centre but also against those in another country. We believe it will provide great promotion and awareness for both Melbourne and Dubai."
