Healthcare company launches new natural weight loss tablet

Blended milkshakes, chemical drugs and aloe vera gel are some of the things available in the market to help lose weight. From homoeopathy to flower essence to acupuncture, every method claims to have found a cure for fat people.

Some believe in magical slimming machines, crystal healing and even mind therapy to reach their goal. Undoubtedly, there is an information overload confusing those looking for a quick fix. However, combating obesity effectively requires long-term commitment and change in lifestyle.

Based on this, Arden healthcare from the UK has launched a new product Actrim in the UAE. The tablet itself is part of a natural weight loss programme. It represents a new and total approach to the problem of weight management.

The pill is all-natural, composed entirely of highly concentrated extracts of certain fruits. Grapefruit is the main ingredient, besides which there is pineapple, figs and papaya.

"People have often asked why they can't just eat these fruits. Well, if they can consume 10-12 kilos of them daily it may work, for that is how concentrated the tablets are," says David Evans, managing director of the company.

Actrim is a fat burner. It performs two major actions within the body. Its primary function is to work on the fat stored in the body and to break it down while having an impact on the metabolism. The secondary action is to work on the food that is ingested into the body daily, preventing it from turning into fat.

Says David: "The four fruits contain enzymes and chemicals which are naturally present in the body. All of these are needed for the digestive and fat metabolism processes. So by consuming Actrim, you are just adding to the body's natural resource of these useful ingredients."

Actrim is not a drug, nor is it a diet or meal replacer. It does not rely upon calorie counting or depriving the body of essential food, and it has no side-effects. During the 10-day course, individuals are encouraged to consume three sensible meals a day, and begin to make small changes in their eating and exercise habits.

The supplement itself has been available for eight years. In countries like Doha and Kuwait, the programme has shown remarkable results. The success is based on the fact that it is safe and comes with a support system.

"Most people who wish to lose weight falter because of lack of motivation and support. When you buy Actrim, the pharmacist will invite you to join our interactive Slimming Club programme, which supports the supplement.

This motivates the users to make the necessary lifestyle change and move towards becoming healthier and fitter. Actrim is not a miracle pill, it will help you lose weight as long as you help yourself," explains Helen Evans, marketing director, Arden.

Having suffered the vicious circles of rigid low-calorie diets, Helen understands the plight of the overweight.

"After my third child, I assumed my body would go back to its original weight, but it did not. I tried all the crash diets and realised nothing would help. But after four to five months of Actrim I lost two-and-a-half stones," she says.

Modern research has shown that 95 per cent of people who go on crash diets regain the weight and sometimes even more. Helen and David found that individuals need confidential advice, which is specific to their circumstances.

The online Arden nutritionist and fitness expert provide this via e-mail, to those registered with the Actrim Slimming Club.

"In fact, Brown University published a report stating that people trying to lose weight were 40 per cent more successful if they had e-mail support, than those who did not, and this is the foundation of the slimming club," she asserts.

However, before embarking on this journey of shedding kilos, people need to accept that they are overweight and identify the reasons for it. Within their research, Helen and David came across many people who, at 25 stone, did not believe they were overweight. Some would think the scales were wrong, while others insist that they do not eat much at all.

At times, "people were eating more calories in their snack than they would in their whole main meal. A lot of the women in the Gulf do not do any housework or walk.

So, our fitness expert gives them step-by-step ways to include a little more exercise in their routine. Now, they effortlessly stretch for 20 minutes every morning, it has become like brushing teeth", adds Helen.

She warns that obesity is an illness, which has reached epidemic proportions. Parents need to control children as we are breeding obese people.

"We are fighting supermarkets, as they tempt us to hoard food with their buy one get one free deals, or with new, artificial snacks that we must have. Buffets are another evil to beware of.

Apart from this, people here must realise that they need to drink 10-12 glasses of water because of the heat, not the usual 6-8 degrees. All these will make a difference in the overall well-being and approach to weight management," she assures.

The most critical thing is to set realistic targets, and stop using food for reward and punishment.

Now is the time to correct our own habits, so that we can improve those of our kids. There is a need to put our well-being first, in order to be healthy and strong to look after those around us.

As Helen and David put it: "Looking after yourself is not vanity, it is just good practice."
