Sheikh Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Deputy Ruler of Fujairah, yesterday attended the graduation ceremony of the 'Police Generations' summer training course for preparatory UAE national pupils for the first time by the Police Department.

The graduation ceremony was attended by Lt Col Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanem, Director-General of the Fujairah Police Department, Major Ghanem Ahmed bin Ghanem, Director of the Fujairah Traffic and Licensing Department, Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Kindi, Director of the Fujairah Ruler's Office, several top police officers and heads of local departments.

The ceremony began with a parade by the pupils who underwent a seven-week military training course that started on June 14.

Lt Col bin Ghanem appreciated the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, for improving the performance of the police force to ensure more safety and security in society.

"The summer course is a part of a strategy of the Ministry of Interior to help keep our children busy with useful activities during the vacation and teach them how to be responsible and disciplined," said Lt Col bin Ghanem.

A total of 143 pupils from the preparatory school-level participated in the course. The programme aims to teach pupils discipline and responsibility to create a new generation aware of their role in national construction.

"We organised the summer course under the theme 'Police Generations' to fill their leisure time during the summer vacation with useful activities, and to give them information about police work," Lt Col bin Ghanem said.

Capt Ali Rashid bin Nayee, director of the summer course, said the course armed pupils with knowledge they will need in future.

"The pupils showed discipline and a lot of enthusiasm in learning more about police work. They were active, ready to acquire new skills and interested in shaping their personalities as the future generation of the country," said Major bin Nayee.

The Fujairah Deputy Ruler and Lt. Col. bin Ghanem presented gifts and certificates of appreciation to some officers and heads of government establishments which collaborated in making the course such a success. They also presented pupils with certificates of participation.
