Dubai Bank has become the first bank in the region to launch a fully automated state-of-the-art safe deposit locker facility - Tijori - that can be accessed 24 hours a day, throughout the week.

Tijori also features a unique biometric security system, which requires customers to register their palm impression so that they can validate their identity in order to use the service.

Dubai Bank has partnered with security equipment specialists, Comexter, to provide cutting-edge banking technology.

"Tijori ensures the highest levels of security, convenience and privacy. Its launch illustrates the bank's commitment to devising innovative products and services that continue to set new standards in a highly competitive banking industry," said Ahmed Bin Brek, CEO of Dubai Bank.

Located at Hall 1 of the Dubai World Trade Centre, the safe house facility comprises four frosted-glass cubicles that offer complete privacy. The customer can then gain access to the facility by swiping his or her card to enter the cubicle.

Once inside, the customer validates the palm impression, after which he or she swipes the card again in front of the locker system and enters the PIN code to confirm the transaction. The customer can then operate the interactive touch screen to deposit or withdraw valuables from the safe deposit box.

Tijori has an alerting facility, which is activated should any security feature be breached. Any alert is then automatically logged and recorded.

Commenting on the launch, Ricky Madan, vice-president, said: "Consumer research has revealed the need for a 24-hour safety locker system. By combining the latest technology and security systems, Dubai Bank has responded to this need by offering its customers the most advanced, secure, and convenient safety deposit box system in the Middle East."
