Hosts Qatar showed why they are Asian basketball champions on Sunday night by dominating the UAE [62-47] at the Al Qarrafah Indoor Stadium.

The differences between the two teams in physique, experience and talent were vast and despite the UAE's attempts, the home team had no difficulty in winning the match, leading through all four quarters: 28-13, 35-23, 48-33 and 62-47.

Qatar's guard, Ali Turki was in a class of his own scoring 22 points and taking up both the defensive and attacking responsibilities. He won the award for the most valuable player.

The UAE found themselves under pressure from the word go. They tried to compensate for their lack of height by attempting the three-point shots, but most of them were off-target.

Repeated mistakes from the UAE in shooting, covering, following up under the basket and off the fast breaks led the home team to confirm their superiority.
