The UAE's top tennis player, Omar Behroozian, has been banned by Tennis Emirates from participating in all future competitions to be held in the country.

The harsh ruling is a result of Behroozian's club, Al Wasl complaining to Tennis Emirates over the player's "indiscipline".

Al Wasl have sought the ban on Behroozian owing to his "lack of commitment during practice" and his unwillingness to "execute administrative staff orders".

Slah Bramly, technical secretary of the Tennis Emirates, confirmed the ban on the UAE's best player.

"The file pertaining to Omar's ban has been forwarded to the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare (GAYSW). They will take a decision on the matter," Bramly stated.

The ban means Behroozian will not be able to participate in any local competition held in the UAE and will not be eligible to represent the country as well.

"It is indeed a great loss for the sport," Bramly admitted.

"As far as I know, Omar has been a team player and he has never had any problem in this area before.

"We can only hope that the bodies concerned get together and come to an amiable solution soon," Bramly hoped.

Behroozian was unavailable for comments as he was participating in an ITF tournament currently underway in Saudi Arabia.

In view of the ban imposed on the player, Behroozian will not be eligible to play either in the Marbella Tennis Championship or the Jebel Ali Resort Tennis Championships.

"Omar is a product of Tennis Emirates and we should have been more objective while taking a decision like this," Bramly observed.

"Even if the player is at fault, there are different ways of dealing with the issue, so that the sport does not suffer."
