Twenty UAE nationals will undergo banking and finance training after a memorandum of understanding was signed recently between the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia) and Barclays Bank.

The agreement also provides the trainees with employment opportunities at the bank.

Marwan Al Sawaleh, Assistant Director-General Manager of the Employment and Skills Development Centre, Tanmia, and Mark Petchell, Group Country Manager, Barclays UAE, signed the MoU at the conclusion of the Careers UAE 2005.

Barclays Bank will provide intensive three-month training, using the expertise of in-house trainers and banking professionals. Participants will be examined and successful candidates will have priority to fill up vacancies within the bank.

Al Sawaleh said: "Increasing the number of nationals in the banking and finance sector is a key objective of our overall emiratisation drive. Our partnership with Barclays Bank is an extension of our long-term commitment to equip UAE nationals with the required skills."
