Nepalese living in the UAE are being told to abide by local laws so as to help their fellow countrymen get jobs.

Respecting the host country’s laws can only help increase Nepal’s share in the UAE’s labour market, Ramesh Nath Pandey, Nepalese Minister of Foreign Affairs, told Gulf News.

“We constantly monitor the behaviour of our workers abroad and ensure they abide by the rules of a host country,” he said of the growing demand for Nepalese workers in the Gulf.

There has been a sharp increase in the recruitment of Nepalese in the UAE, particularly in the security and hospitality sectors.

He also said there is great potential for the two countries to benefit from the tourism industry. Nepal, a popular tourist destination, has a lot to offer visitors from the UAE, he said.

Pandey was here for a visit on his way to Geneva to attend a meeting. During his stay, he met Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

“Nepal enjoys very fruitful and close relation with UAE,” Pandey said. “My meeting with Shaikh Hamdan was fruitful.

After my talks with him, I realised this country will be a real example of modernisation mixed with traditional cultural values.
