Dubai: Negussie Abede Tufa and Kuleni Bekana from Ethiopia took the overall honours in the Dubai Half Marathon held on Friday.
Tufa finished with a time of one hour, 9:11.11 seconds to win the top place in the men's competition, while Bekana clocked 1:20.04 for the women's prize.
Both timings are new course records for this annual competition organised by the Dubai Creek Striders.
Veterans division
The course record for men was 1:15.12, while the course record for the women stood at 1:27.09 till Bekana arrived yesterday.
The first UAE national home was Nasser Al Marzouqi in a time of 1:26.17 to end in third place for the veterans division.
Tamene Mengistu Haile took the second place in the male section, while Andy Keron was third best.
In the women's section, Petra Jerejian came in second, while Annie Crookes finished third.
Neil Tate won the veterans section with a time of 1:16.57 while Terry Hislop came in second in a time of 1:22.09 and Al Marzouqi completed the podium standings.
