Dubai: Our Own High School, Al Warqa'a retained the overall championship trophy piling up 348 points in the 15th Our Own Inter School athletic meet for boys at the Dubai Police Stadium yesterday.

Abu Dhabi Indian School finished runners-up with 251 points while Dubai Gem clinched the third position with 117 points.

Five records crashed on the final day of the meet.

In the 800m race for Inters Abraham Thomas of Delhi Private School set a new record of 2: 20.90 minutes breaking the past record of 2:45.18 minutes.

The 100m juniors saw Mohammad Bilal Asaf of Dubai Gem winning in 13.49 minutes to erase the record of 13.96 minutes.

Bala Subramaniam set a new record of 1:05.89 minutes in 400m for juniors. He wiped off the earlier record of 1:04.77 minutes.

The discuss throw event too produced a new mark in the Inters category. Siddiquallah of Global English School of Al Ain set a new record of 33.30m breaking the previous record of 30.07m.

Mohammad Bilal Asaf and B.R. Balasubramaniam of Dubai Gem School also set new records in the 200m juniors event. Bilal finished in 28.57 seconds while Balasubramaniam finished second in 29.12 seconds. The previous record was 29.23 seconds.

Individual champions:

  • Sub juniors: Richin Rajan (Abu Dhabi Indian School), Bharat Verma (Our Own) 12 points.
  • Juniors: Mohammad Bilal Asaf (Dubai Gem) 27 points.
  • Inters: Alken G Fonseca (Abu Dhabi Indian School) 27 points.
  • Seniors: Mohammad Usman Asaf (Dubai Gem) 37 points.
  • Super Seniors: Prateek Pednekar (Our Own Al Warqa'a) 35 points.
