Dubai: Organisers of the Special Olympics 5th MENA Regional Games hope to stage at least four separate conferences running alongside the five-day competition.

"The conferences-cum-clinics are aimed at developing an understanding and bridging the gap between different peoples in our society," stated Majid Al Hossaimi, the chairman of the public relations committee.

The four conferences will cater to youth, family, health and leadership.

The 'Youth Summit' will be a gathering of UAE youth, while the 'Families Forum' will address issues related to coping with special needs children.

"The 'Healthy Athletes' Conference' will concentrate on issues related to basic healthy aspects, while the 'Athletes Leadership Congress' will focus on bringing out latent leadership qualities," stated Ahmad Hassan, the chairman of the technical committee.
