Abu Dhabi: The formation of sub-committees and the list of referees to officiate in the forthcoming Gulf Cup matches were cleared on Sunday.

The clearances came following a meeting of the secretaries general representing the football associations of the different participating teams.

It was also decided to select one Asian referee through the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), in addition to two European referees, to officiate at the Gulf Cup, along with the eight referees from the participating teams.

The meeting also cleared the names of eight assistant referees from the participating countries.

Fifa referee Ali Hamad and Fifa assistant-referee Eisa Darwish will represent the UAE and will officiate in the matches of Group B. The UAE will compete in Group A.

The meeting cleared the formation of the technical committee, the referees' committee, the media committee and the anti-doping committee.

The meeting also decided to cancel the third-place playoff match.

The winners of the semifinals will play for the title and there will be no match for the losers to decide the third-placed team.

The Abu Dhabi Armed Forces Officers Club Hotel will be the official hotel for the tournament that will host the participating teams.
