Hard work does pay

Ahmed Butt is a happy man. The promotional campaigns for Madam Deharibaaz have been received well by audiences. Butt, who plays the lead along with Saima, shares the screen with Shaan and Kanwal. As director Pervez Rana was aiming for an Eid release, Butt worked through many nights to make sure that the movie was released on time.   

Happy at work

Rufi Sanam is happy with her work in Rasheed Dogar's Jism. Sanam has a theatre background and is drawing on her experiences to execute some complex scenes. The film, which is nearing completion, stars Shamyl Khan as the male lead.  

Looking to India

Veena Malik has signed on for another Indian film. The actress has already worked in the Punjabi Indian movie, Pind Dee Kuri. The upcoming film, to be directed by Agarwaal Chatterjee, will be completed by February. Wajahat Attre will be composing the music for the film.

  • Convincing role Babra Sharif will be starring in Anwar Maqsood's upcoming television series. The serial will be directed by S Suleiman and will star Faisal Rehman in the lead. It took some persuasion on Maqsood's part to get Sharif to accept the role as she was trying to make a comeback in films. She gave in because her last stint with the producer in his serial Nadan Nadia was a success.
  • Justice delivered After more than a decade, police claim they have caught the murderers of actor Sultan Rahi. The police are yet to give out details. Rahi was waylaid and stabbed to death on the highway while on his way back from Islamabad in 1993.
  • Wedding bells Saud tied the knot with Javeria Jalil in a much publicised and well attended wedding ceremony in Lahore a couple of weeks back. Spotted at the ceremony were Arbaz Khan, Khushbu, Indian actor Raj Babbar, Rambo, Saheba, Faisal Qureshi, Sangeeta and Shabbir Jan.
  • Singing for a cause Naghmana Jaffri will be arranging musical shows to aid the victims of the October earthquake. Jaffri has decided to donate the proceeds from her concerts in January to the earthquake victims.
  • Qazi busy with TV shows Izha Qazi hasn't done a film in six months, but his fans are happy that he is busy with television. The actor, who started his career with serials, graduated to films, leaving his fans distraught as he wasn't getting good roles.
