An Associate Degree is a type of undergraduate degree, generally two years in duration, requiring a minimum of 60 semester credit hours.
The programme consists of three parts: general education requirements, major requirements, and electives.
Associate degrees are awarded by colleges indicating that you have completed a programme of study with a broad base in general, education and a concentration in a specific area. Your degree may be in an occupational area (such as electronics) or in liberal arts (such as an associate degree in science or arts).
An online associate degree in business, liberal arts and other disciplines, is widely accepted for transfer into bachelor's degree programmes. Types of associate degree programmes: n Associate of Arts degree, AA: This degree is designed so one can transfer to a four-year college or university. n Associate of Applied Science degree, AAS: Designed to prepare graduates for career entry or job advancement after two years of college study.
AAS degrees may be transferred in whole or in parts to four-year colleges. AAS degrees may also be known by specific occupational titles such as associate in engineering technology, associate in business, etc. n Associate of Science degree,AS : Designed to transfer to a four-year college or university. Employment opportunities? Associate of applied science degrees (or occupational associate degrees) are now accepted by many employers for entry-level positions. Transfer from associate degree programmes As a general rule, universities have different rules for transfer into second, third or fourth year of the under-graduate programmes. Therefore students need to check with respective colleges on the offerings and partnerships.

- EMIRATES ACADEMY OF HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT: AA in business and tourism, AS in international hospitality operations.

- EMIRATES COLLEGE FOR MANAGEMENT AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: AS in interdisciplinary studies.
