Sharjah: More than 80 workers were hospitalised following a gas leak in industrial area three in Sharjah on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The incident is believed to have been caused by illegal cutting of gas cylinders to be sold as scrap. Police denied any explosions were caused.
The workers were using a construction site for this illegal activity, police said.
The injured workers were admitted to Kuwaiti Hospital, Al Qasimi Hospital and University Hospital.
