Dubai: Heavy rain pounded many areas of the UAE, from the outskirts of Sharjah all the way to Fujairah, at times on Sunday and Monday as drizzle fell in desert areas of Dubai.

Masafi received the highest recorded levels of rainfall at 15.6mm as rain clouds brought heavy showers in this town along with Manama, Al Dhaid and Falaj Al Moalla on Sunday night and from noon on Monday until late afternoon, a forecaster from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said.

Al Showaib, Mazyad and Hafeet saw moderate to light showers as drizzle reached some interior parts of Dubai, such as Al Faqa.

"It also rained in Dubai but not in the city, only in the desert areas on the way to Fujairah like Al Faqa. The convective clouds never reach the city of Dubai," the forecaster said.
