Sharjah: A driver had a miraculous escape after the car he was driving burst into flames on Sharjah Airport Road on Sunday night.
The car caught fire at 11.11pm, a Sharjah Civil Defence official told Gulf News.
The motorist stopped the vehicle after he realised the car had a problem. Firefighters rushed to the scene and controlled the blaze, the official said.
The case was handed over to the forensic laboratory to determine the cause of the fire.
The fire caused traffic jam on the other side of the road as motorists stopped to watch the fire.
Civil Defence Departments in UAE urged motorists to carry a fire extinguisher in their vehicles and to carry out regular maintenance to reduce the risk of fires.
