Abu Dhabi: King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al Marhum Sultan Mahmud of Malaysia, who took part in the three-day Shaikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup 240-km ride, gave away the winner's trophy of the ride to Shaikh Hazza Bin Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Shaikh Hazza had finished first followed by Spain's Jesus Manuel Berna while Shaikh Khalid Bin Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan finished third.

Apart from the winners of the 240-km event, the winners of the 100-km junior ride and the 120-km Invitation ride for novices were also awarded with their prizes at an impressive function on Saturday night.

The Malaysian monarch, who finished 11th in the gruelling 240-km event, was here at the invitation of Shaikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, under whose patronage the three-day endurance festival was held at the Boud Thib Endurance Village.

Malaysia, who are among the leading endurance nations in Asia, will be hosting the 2008 World Endurance Championship.

"The last 20-km loop was very tough, but I had a good horse with me. It was a very competitive ride and I am delighted with the result," Shaikh Hazza said.

Berna, who finished second for the third time this season apart from winning two rides said, "Shaikh Hazza's horse was fantastic.
