Vienna: The message presented by the UAE through its participation in the Euro-Arab dialogue conference was a civil and exemplary one which stemmed from the country's values, principles, heritage and history.

Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Culture - in a statement made before the final session of the conference, which was held at the Hofburg Imperial Palace - said that the existing peaceful co-existence of society in the UAE was the best example of how security and stability could be achieved through understanding, mutual respect and positive interaction based on a number of common factors.

"I can affirm to you that the participation of the UAE in this conference derives its great importance from the fact that the opening session was attended by a large number of Arab and European foreign ministers, senior officials, experts, representatives of government and non-governmental organisations, Muslim and Christian leaderships.

"This high-level participation is an important message that reaffirms the need to boost constructive dialogue and the importance of Europe playing an effective role in supporting just Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause" Al Owais added.

He also stressed the need for joint Arab-European actions structured in a such a way that would serve the mutual interest of the two sides, while boosting efforts aimed at building bridges and positive dialogue between Europe and the Arab world in various areas, which included political, economic, social and cultural areas.
