Manama: Bahrain’s Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa has asked all ministers to take observations and complaints made by citizens into serious consideration and ensure they follow up on them.

Chairing the weekly cabinet session, Prince Khalifa insisted that every remark or complaint made by any Bahraini, regardless of how slight it may seem, must be treated as important and must not be ignored or overlooked in any way,

All the ministers should make sure they follow up closely the works and projects undertaken by the government and make field visits to ensure they are being carried out efficiently, the prime minister said.

The ministers should also make sure that the services provided by their ministries are adequate and free of any shortcoming, he added.

Potential inadequacy and filings should be addressed by the ministers.

Prince Khalifa said that the ministers should step up cooperation with MPs regarding service issues, in line with the collaboration framework between the executive and legislative branches, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) said.

The current government was appointed in December following the quadrennial parliamentary elections and presented its action plan for the next four years to the lawmakers in early January.

Under constitutional amendments passed in 2012 that increased the powers of the parliament, the government is required to present a blueprint to the lawmakers at the beginning of their four year terms.

The amendments meant that the lawmakers could, for the first time in Bahrain’s history, veto the government's plan.

In presenting the action plan to the parliament, Prince Khalifa said the blueprint was based on the kingdom's economic and social vision to ensure it included priorities that provided the requirements of decent living for the citizens and enabled them to increase their contributions to the development process.

“This will upgrade education, training, health, housing, social care and human development services, create job opportunities and allocate more interest to women and youth affairs, while providing infrastructure that supports comprehensive development,” he said.

“A comprehensive programme to improve government performance, increase productivity, upgrade competence, ensure commitment to accountability and transparency, measure performance and deliver speedy services was put forward to ensure that the above goals are achieved,” he said.
