Occupied Jerusalem: Ehud Olmert is considered the first Israeli prime minister in country's history to face a series of investigations.

They included involvement in corruption and bribery cases. Some of them are traced back to 10 years. These investigations will affect Olmert's career and influence the future of his party, said analysts.

Perhaps the most recent case is the one where the judicial consultant of the Israeli government, Mona Mazuz, was firm to the degree that the prime minister himself was surprised by Mazuz, who ordered police to open an investigation against Olmert regarding the house he owned in occupied Jerusalem.

In addition to that, it is expected that Mazuz will soon decide on opening another criminal investigation against the prime minister regarding the investment centre case, the authority case for small interests at the Ministry of Industry and Labour and other cases concerning Olmert's position as minister at the Ministry of Industry and Labour many years ago.

All these cases are included in a current investigation into Ehud Olmert about the Leomi (national) Bank case. According to the police spokesman, the investigation is in its last stages.

The suspicions have to do with Olmert manipulating the Leomi Bank tender to help his friend Frank Lu'ai, the Australian businessman who is in the real estate to win the tender and control the 'core power' at Leomi Bank.

"Israel is still occupying an advanced position on the list of the states that suffer from the corruption pest in all the official and national institutions. For example, one third of the current Israeli government ministers were interrogated in corruption, bribery, and exploitation cases," the chairman of Shevel Institution for fighting corruption at official institutions, Professor Yusi Ghros, told Gulf News.

"These recent developments propelled significant members of Kadima Party to prepare for the probability of losing their leader, Ehud Olmert, background and the growth of voices who call for his immediate resignation," said analyst and Israeli broadcaster Hanan Kritsal.
