Sharjah: Sharjah Police arrested a gang of five men involved in a number of burglaries who broke into commercial outlets in the industrial areas.
An official at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Sharjah Police said the Pakistani gang members were caught red handed while they broke into a money exchange in Sharjah industrial area number 11.
The Operations Room reported that an alarm at a money exchange had gone off and the police went to the area to investigate.
"Police were confronted with masked men who were running away from the area, but they managed to arrest two of the suspects," said the CID official.
The two suspects confessed that they intended to steal cash from the exchange but fled when the security alarm went off. They also revealed that the other men who fled the scene lived on a farm in Dubai.
Two of the suspects were arrested in Dubai while the fifth was arrested in Al Ain. All have been referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution.
The CID official has urged all commercial outlets to protect their business by installing an alarm system that links it to the police operation room.
