Unless you have been living under a rock the past week, you'll know that Carmen Sulaiman has won the first season of MBC's Arab Idol.
The Egyptian contestant faced tough competition from Moroccan participant Donia Batmah, as both were strong finalists with media unable to predict who would win.
Following the results, Arab Idol judge Ragheb Alame took to Twitter to offer his support. "Congratulations to the Arab world: the Arab Idol star is Carmen Sulaiman. This girl persuaded the Arab public [with her talent] to vote for her to win the title," Alame posted.
Carmen has won a contract with Platinum Records, who will manage all her musical projects, as well as a contract with Pepsi to appear in a number of commercials for the soft drink, plus a 2012 Corvette.
He will be back soon
A source close to Amr Diab has denied the singer is set to quit his music career following the death of his mother last week.
Various Arab media outlets had reported that the Egyptian singer's mother's last wish was for Diab to record the Quran using his voice, as his father had memorised the Quran by heart.
"He just needs time for himself to get over this incident," the source told reporters after the funeral. "He was very close to his mother so this has come to him as a great shock. But he will be back soon," the source said.
Real Nancy please stand up
Nancy Ajram's fans have taken to her official Facebook fan page to request that she postpone the release of her new album aimed at children. Her fans have asked she does so in respect for the children currently suffering in Syria as a result of the political unrest.
One fan on behalf of a fan club wrote: "We, Nancy's fans have been supporting her every step of the way throughout her career, but the time has come for her to respond to our request for the sake of Syria's children."
"She should also make her stance clear as to whether or not she supports the brutal regime of Syrian President Bashar Al Asad."
